Researchers have published the Y-DNA haplotype of pharaoh Ramesses III:

http://www.bmj.com/content/345/bmj.e8268
---
Genetic kinship analyses revealed identical haplotypes in both mummies (table 1⇓); using the Whit Athey’s haplogroup predictor, we determined the Y chromosomal haplogroup E1b1a.
---

Here is the haplotype. Is it so unusual as to strain credibility?

DYS448 = 20
DYS438 = 10
DYS437 = 14
Y-GATA-H4 = 13
DYS392 = 17
DYS391 = 8
DYS393 = 8
DYS385a,b = 20
DYS19 = 19
DYS389ii = 33
DYS390 = 21
DYS389i = 13
DYS456 = 13

Interesting news. Hope to have time to do a nearer look over the holidays. They should do SNP analysis on him (maybe not only Y). We need more genomes almost as old as Ötzi the Iceman.

I have made two videos about this

this was the first one(and most popular)

It looks like Ramses III and his y-dna line were Caucasian phenotype founders of this E1b1a lineage.

I also have a ysearch page for him

Return to E Haplogroup (Y-DNA)
