NEW THREAD is here: J-M410 subclades and clusters overview

As the L26+ news now are on a daily rythm as Y-DNA J CoAdmin I like to inform all interested a little on the development here.

We have actually a package of exiting new SNPs able to redefine J-L26 (J2a1/J2a3/J2a4). Here is a sub groups overview to understand the situation, please beware that all positions could be redefined and this is only one possibility:

M163, M166: one Druze individual listed by Underhill et al. (2000) "Y chromosome sequence variation and the history of human populations". AFAIK, no more derived samples were found by FTDNA or other labs.

M339: one individual from Eastern Anatolia listed by Cinnioglu et al. (2004) "Excavating Y chromosome haplotype strata in Anatolia". AFAIK, no more derived samples were found by FTDNA or other labs.

L267: kit 23417 is L250.2-, L251.2-, L1064- (WTY) and L927-. I think there's no point to test anyone else from his branch (Cluster C).

Therefore M163, M166, M339 should be defined as private SNPs by the same criteria as L267 or M327.

P329.2: kit 88093 is L250.2-, L251.2-, L1064- (WTY). I presume he's L927- too. Kit 44036 (Cluster E) should test P329.2 - if derived, then it's not a private SNP.

M419: kit N52859 (Y-DNA12 + Deep Clade) from Ireland DNA project.

Thanks JaG! Your comments are very welcome and I have edited the draft image hopefully in a good direction (here is the Download Archive). You are very well informed (and good documented).

I could not find the last kit N52859 and Ireland DNA project.

L927 is now an important SNP for Anthropology
I hope someone will make a map of geographic spread of L927 which helps to find out its birth place

I think that J2a3a , J2a3b, and probably J2a3i are all derived from a common ancestor
There should be a SNP uniting all of them, which is downstream of L26,L27
I hope it will be find soon.

Thanks JaG for doing the search, I was to lazy because normally I find kits by search engine. Seems the Ireland project is not well crosslinked.

JaG, thanks so much, as this is just what I need to help me get the ISOGG tree straightened out. You heard the good news, that Peter Underhill agreed to having his private SNPs removed from the tree, so even the YCC should be doing that in the future.

Could someone please remind me where P329.2 comes from? It was found in kit 88093? I agree that kit 44036 would be a good one to test in that case.

Oops! I'm out of time. More later!

I just checked the WTY results of 88093 and I do see P329.2+ in it. Also L250.2-, L251.2-! Thanks for pointing that out. Yes, it's highly likely that he's L927-, though I'd like for at least one member of this cluster to test it. I've always noticed that they are a very basal group in J2a3, and I was hoping they'd have their own SNP. But maybe P329.2 will be it! I don't understand how it escaped my notice -- where did you hear about it?

That's excellent, Kemal! I was really pleased to see that. He has almost always come up close to J2a3i in tree diagrams, so I'm thinking that J2a3i will also be L927+.
