Hi Sasha,

As we all know... science has a way of working its self out over time.

Science is well-known for adjusting & refining its self... as more and more information is gathered.

Although many historical texts are quite reliable, sometimes history can also be very vague... and even incorrect (or slightly changed). So it is at least possible, Sasha, that your DNA is where the truth lies... and that the historical record is what became slightly corrupted.

Or... your other theory of descending from a different Gedimin descendant might be true.

There are probably a dozen possibilities. I guess we are still at the cutting-edge of this new science... and we will all have to continue to wait & see how all of the details finally come together in the end!

In the mean time... it sure is exciting to have a front row seat -- as we all watch the research come together!

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know if Mr. George Galitzine (FTDNA kit# 414209) has tested with the Big-Y? Of course his Y-DNA seems to indicate the same thing that his family name "Galitzine" does... that his ancestor would be Prince Golitsin?.

However, is there something in his Y-DNA result... that there might be a very small difference... from Prince Golitsin who is already in the FTDNA system?.

Perhaps there is just a very small difference in his N-L551 branch? It might be interesting to see exactly where these 2 branches might separate. Or maybe that is just my own curiosity. ;)

Does anyone know (if FT DNA website shows)... that Mr. Galitzine has tested with Big-Y or with a similar test from another company?

Hi SupertigerCH, George did the N-SNP pack test last summer but has not ordered the BigY.

Thank you James.

it would be nice if the Big-Y test... would be made possible for him. perhaps I will just have to wait and hope.

Juhani, Yes, Georg's kit (414209) was N-SNP pack tested last summer and his terminal SNP is L551.

SupertigerCH, You are welcome and hopefully Georg will decide to take advantage of a future Big-Y sale either this spring or at Christmas-time.
