I must be missing something. Where are all the very interesting and lively discussions that were found going on daily on the old forum?

Not as many on this forum yet - hopefully it will pick up. At least you can actually keep up with most posts of interest.

Yes you are right...and I am not complaining. I was really just wondering if folks were using a site I did not know about.

seems like many of our more prolific posters have not started up here yet
...and I think there is also a problem that many regular posters on DNA forum had been starting to drop off or out of posting for a variety of reasons in the year before George killed his forum

I do miss the old communtiy and hope as time goes by we can regain it here

I certainly dont know of another site taking the role of the old dna forums

I think the majority of discussion is going on here, at worldfamilies.net, at FTDNA fourms and some of the specific yDNA Yahoo groups. ( R1b L21 and U106 have been there for ages, someone started a R1b yDNA group about a month ago.)
Rootsweb seems to be slowing down and did ban a couple of its better posters a while back. It seems very technical somedays.
I'm not sure if 23and me has anything going.
There is another dna-forums.net but it doesnt have many posts.

I prefer this style of forum and format, but am a member of a few Yahoo groups. I usuallly check out the other forums aswell.

Robert...your photo looks remarkably like an old shot of my great grandfather Robert Glasco Fickling....except I never saw a photo of RG smiling.

Well, I've started a few threads regarding the Norman genetic impact, McDonald's BGA results and [yesterday] Neanderthal admixture that I personally find 'interesting and lively'. Well, I did my best anyway, and I was a fairly prolific poster on the 'old' forum. I suppose it comes down to individual interests.

There isn't the 'buzz' of the previous forum, that is true, but then again I don't miss several self-righteous, self-appointed 'experts' who acted as if they owned the place and patronised lesser mortals. If the cap fits...

Having said that, it is also very nice to see the likes of GTC, Jackson, Marmaduke and JMan etc still posting. ;)

Yeah, and the one or two kung-fu style moderators seem to have evaporated, however, as I mentioned in another thread following today's spam attack, this forum is in danger of becoming a spam sewer unless some sort of moderation is activated.

And the compliment is kindly returned. ;-)
