(since there doesn't seem to be a news forum I'm posting here)

I set up a zetaboards site. I will announce this site to that membership so they can migrate here. Thanks everyone for setting this up.

EDIT:
Thanks for moving my announcement. I didn't notice this subforum.

EDIT2:
I set-up the zetaboards site as a backup so we could remain in contact.
It is free and is here: http://s4.zetaboards.com/Sciences_and_History/index/

I have emailed all 150 members about this new forum in a mass email inviting them to join.

Dear members of English-speaking genetic genealogical community!

We heard about some of the difficulties of dna-forums resource. Our Russian-speaking community, some members of which you've already known for several years, has decided to support your community.
We made a copy of dna-forums.org resource (in structure only) as close as possible to the original.
If you feel comfortable here, if this resource is required - please use it!
We hope that the problems of dna-forums are temporary, but if you prefer, we will retain our temporary web-site for you and will be ready together with you to maintain and develop it.

Please do not take our gesture as plagiarism!

Sincerely yours,
Russian community of "Molecular Genealogy" (MolGen)

Hi guys
MikeWhalen, refugee from DNA forums reporting in

what a huge drag this has been, I'd hate for DNA forums to be dead but I guess it is time for a real back up plan

My co admin and I of the Whalen surname project are trying to figure out where we will set up our main alternative to the dna forums
-does anyone have any sense of which of the various options will get the biggest migration?
so far I've seen world family forum, ftdna forum, zeta board forum and now this GGC forum as the main options-I guess independance, cost, memory/size are all considerations..I guess it will take a while to shake out...when I get home tonight I will post on facebook the various options as several dna forums folks are friends on there...I suggest we all use all our various contacts to try to reach as many dna forum members so they can get in on the discussions

best regards and thanks to the powers that be for setting this site up!!

Drishgan from DNA forums here, glad you took the initiative with getting a new site sorted. It's a real shame about DNA forums, but hopefully we can build up plenty of interesting discussions on here.

Kind Regards,
Sam Jackson

I would like to clarify that this forum. was created for those who lived in the dna-forums. We do not plan to copy the contents of our forum here. So feel yourself like at home and let's elect moderators... I think it will be better to choose "old dna-forums" moderators and admins.

Can anyone provide reliable information about the fate of DNA Forums?

Regards
